A calm Korean hamster for home keeping

We got a Korean hamster by accident, because some friends couldn't keep him after they moved. Over the course of a few months, we noticed he was much calmer than many other hamsters we'd seen before. During the day, he usually sleeps, hidden in his cage, and in the evening, he slowly begins to explore his cage. Sometimes he'll sit for long periods near his food bowl, sorting through the grain, as if choosing his favorite morsels. He doesn't bite and is quite docile when handled gently. We fed him rodent formula and occasionally gave him pieces of carrot or apple. We're currently renovating our apartment, and due to the noise and constant movement of the workers, we decided it would be best to find him a quieter place.
