Description

This African Grey has been with us for a little over seven years, and at this point it honestly feels less like “a bird in the house” and more like a quiet member of the home who just happens to have feathers. It has a very specific routine and notices everything, especially voices, kitchen sounds, and the small patterns of daily life. In the mornings it usually waits until someone opens the curtains, and if the house is too quiet for too long it starts making soft sounds just to check where everyone is. It does not scream much, which I know matters to people who have never lived with parrots before, but it absolutely wants presence and interaction. It has learned a few repeated sounds over the years, including a laugh that honestly sounds a little too familiar, and it reacts differently depending on who is speaking to it. When allowed out, it does not fly around wildly; it usually chooses one or two safe places and stays there while watching people move around. Diet has been consistent, mostly pellet-based with fresh fruit and occasional nuts, and health-wise we have had no major issues so far. The only reason for rehoming is that our household structure changed after my parents moved, and the bird now spends more time alone than it should.
